Title : Vietnam coal and underground coal gasification in red river coal basin
Abstract:
Vietnam has abundant reserves of various types of coal. Coal in Vietnam concentrated mainly in the Quang Ninh province. Quang Ninh coal sample is anthracite. Thai Nguyen coal sample is bituminous coal. Lang Son coal sample is brown coal. Thanh Hoa coal sample is brown coal. Ha Tinh coal sample is lignite. Nghe An coal sample is bituminous coal. Contents of Ha Tinh coal sample are Quartz, Clinochlore 1Mla, Magnetite, Pyrite, Muscovite, Rutile and Illite. As a mostly green healing stone, clinochlore’s meaning reflects that of other green gemstones, offering rejuvenation, fresh starts, and renewed hope. Clinochlore is said to treat issues related to Headaches, Muscle stiffness, Sinus infections, Fatigue. Clinochlore’s metaphysical properties are believed to boost or facilitate as Creativity, Open-mindedness, Concentration, Stress reduction, Inner peace, Personal growth. Contents of Nghe An coal sample are Pyrite, Rhodochrosite, Dolomite, Calcite, Quartz, Montmorillonite and Muscovite 2M1. This paper also reports the Map of the Red River coal Basin. The Red River coal Basin has an area of over 3,500km2 located in the Hanoi trough stretching from Viet Tri (Phu Tho province) to Tien Hai (Thai Binh province), with a depth of (-) 3,500m. An reserve is estimated about 210 billion tons of coal. Hung Yen coal sample is brown coal. Thai Binh coal sample is brown coal. Cross-section of coal exploratory drill holes in Hung Yen Province of Red River Delta coal Basin shows seven coal layers over different depths in the cross-section of Hung Yen Province. Depth and thickness of coal layers at positions of LKF200 drill holes in Thai Binh province shows five coal layers at positions of LKF200 drill holes in Thai Binh province from the depth about 1,000 m to about 1,200 m. Until 2016 year, 55 coal seams have been identified in 5 seam sets from the surface to a depth of about 1,200m in the mainland part of the Red River coal Basin. Among the discovered coal seams, there are 48 coal seams thicker than 1m, 13 coal seams thicker than 3m and 2 coal seams with a thickness of 8.6-10m found in some boreholes. Particularly, the coal seams thicker than 1m are located at a depth of 379-1,044m, in many boreholes, the depth of coal encountered is shallower than predicted. In particular, the drilling results in the Pacific coastal area (outside the breakwater) found coal shallower than expected. The analysis results show that the coal is of good quality, low ash content (average 13.26%), high calorific value (average 6,890cal/g), high volatile matter (average 48.15%), low sulfur content (average 1.54%) (General Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam). Vietnam will apply UCG technology for Red River coal Basin in the future. This article has drawn a panoramic picture of Vietnam coal and introduced UCG technology in the Red River Delta coal Basin.
