Title : Application of PVT quality control methods on fluid PVT lab reports

Abstract:

Accurate analysis of the PVT data will enhance the effective management of reservoirs, determine the quantity and the quality of produced fluids and assure correct design of surface facilities. So, the PVT data from the laboratory must be checked for accuracy, consistency, and validity. High quality, accurate PVT data can reduce uncertainty in reservoir fluid properties, provide a sound foundation for reservoir engineering studies and improve investment efficiency. While acquiring sufficient volumes of representative reservoir fluid samples is the first step in obtaining reliable PVT data, understanding and identifying the quality of the PVT data is essential. In this paper, preliminary and complementary consistency check of PVT laboratory methods was applied on PVT fluid data from an oil well located southeast Libya which include graphical method, recombination and material balance check for well stream composition test, Buckley, Hofman plot, Y-function of constant composition expansion (CCE) test, compositional material balance of differential liberation (DL) test, overall mass balance for density, oil formation volume factor, (Bo) and the gas oil ratio, (GOR) of differential liberation (DL) test and density check for separator test. After implementing the applicable proposed checking procedures, all the results showed that the fluid sample is valid and can be used as a representative sample for the whole reservoir.
