Title : PMS – A step towards improved efficiency and net zero
Abstract:
Digital technology is continuously evolving and Digitization in oil and gas Industry with introduction and expansion of innovative business oriented tools, AI and data analytics is a journey towards reduce carbon emissions and improve efficiency.
ONGC Eastern Offshore Asset consists of deep water green fields and brown fields. Brown fields with decline in production and green fields with unconventional reservoirs, understanding and analysis the production performance is not a well-defined process. Traditionally in this fields, most decisions were based on steady state and historical trends. To improve the Production and operational efficiency, to reduce flaring and unplanned shutdown of the fields and to mitigate flow assurance challenges Production Management system is developed.
In a step towards Digitalization of oil fields and net zero carbon emissions, ONGC Eastern Offshore Asset is implementing integrated operations Project where Digitization of Wells, fields and operations is being done using innovative business oriented tools to facilitate operations, maintenance, and reporting. As part of the Integrated operations project (IOPS), Production Management system, Asset Management system, Reservoir Management system, Maintenance Management system is being implemented
Production management system (PMS) was designed and implemented creating digital twin of all the oil fields and Transient and steady state digital work flows are generated using transient and steady state simulations. PMS Transient model uses live production data to produce real time flow assurance and operation insights. It uses three different modes: (1) Real-time Mode (2) What if Mode (3) Look Ahead Mode. The results of workflows are displayed in a user friendly dash board with alarms which alerts the operator in case of any deviations. PMS steady state is useful for production monitoring and optimization using aggregated data.
As PMS is part of IOPS and is connected to other modules such as Reservoir Management system, the big data will flow vice versa and it will assists production and reservoir engineers to make proactive decisions for management of fields.
