Title : Artificial lift monitoring and its power in remote emergency shutdowns for oil wells

Abstract:

Challenge:

  • An unfortunate Pipeline incident occurred at Zubair Field in Iraq that led to two fatalities

  • The client requested assistance to shut down 44 wells as it was going to take a very long time to shut down all these wells manually by field team, and time saving was vital as it was an emergency.

Solution:

  • As we provide monitoring 24/7 for well performances, we were able to respond to the client request immediately.

  • Using control screens in our advanced monitoring platforms we Managed to shut down all wells as requested in a few minutes

Results:

  • We managed to shut down all the requested wells remotely in a few minutes which saved a lot of time as manual shutdown for 44 wells would have taken hours which helped in avoiding any escalation for the ongoing emergency

  • Avoided the risk of night drive at the field which also decreased co2 emissions

  • Avoided oil spillage, knowing that the total average production for all 44 wells is 67254.13 Bpd which equals USD 4023814.59
