2024 Mega Turnaround, YASREF strategically invested in advanced digitalization and innovative technologies to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality execution. The turnaround (TA) demonstrated how integrated digital tools, intelligent inspection technologies, and smart monitoring systems can significantly enhance performance, control, and reliability.

Challenges Faced:
Several in-house digital systems were developed and deployed by the YASREF team to 2024 TA. Yet team face several challenges related to IT Infrastructure Integration, Implementation time frame, Technology Utilization & Workforce Adoption, Cybersecurity and Security Authorization, Refinery Plot Plan & Physical Constraints, and Multi-System Coordination Complexity.

Biography:

Mahmoud is the Senior Engineer of the Turnaround Planning section at YASREF. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from King Abdulaziz university and has over 13 years of extensive experience in refinery and petrochemical sector maintenance. His expertise includes turnarounds, maintenance, Excellence and project management.
Mahmoud has held key roles at major organizations such SABIC and YASREF. In his current role at YASREF, he has been instrumental in leading the planning efforts for the 2020 TA and 2024 Mega Turnaround events. His responsibilities include effective scope development, robust schedule planning, critical path optimization, efficient clash management, and leading the execution of critical path during the TA. His vast hands-on experience ensures smooth governance and the successful execution of YASREF’s 2024 Mega Turnaround event.
